As suggested I first got a sobriety plant that I kept alive for a year, before adopting a cat that I've had for over a year, and now I'm ready to start dating again. Any advice?

Be solid alone before you jump into a relationship. Be the best you can be. Do to your significant what you expect to be done to you. Forgive often. Don't air your relationship problems.
