Separation

Any1 know why AA & NA dont merge? I am a drug addict, I've never had an issue with alcohol. But to me….alcohol & drugs are the same.

NA follows the same program as AA. The only think that changes is the word in the first and 12th step. They don’t merge because they were started because of singleness of purpose. That being said I have seen AA welcome people with drug issues and vice versa for a very long time.

Since there are so many more AA meetings in my 8+ years of sobriety about half the people in the rooms of AA have their drug of choice as alcohol and others drugs. I think that is what is most important is to go to a meeting Period.

Thanks so much for your comment. What has your experience been?

I am in the same situation. Im an NA but my homegroup and sponsor both are AA. Several of my local groups were not open to the cross of the 2 but my homegroup is extremely open to whatever issue. I just continue to stick to the program and apply my DOC as necessary and works for me. I do agree that most everything is overlapping and having a problem with one seems to lead to a problem with all.
