Hey all, I’ve been heavily drinking for the past two months, mostly because of stress and trauma. I have never detoxed and I am terrified to detox. More so because I’m scared of the DTs. What have been your experiences with detox?
Hi, Casey. I'm glad you are trying to get sober. I didn't detox at home- but is rather dangerous. Some experience withdrawals so it's best to detox under a medical professionals care.
We have a list of detox treatment centers. You can find some local to you. Tap the lifesaver icon; then select treatment centers to view the listings.
Let me know if I can help with anything.
I would highly recommend going to detox for detox it from alcohol. I detoxed a million times from opiates but its not deadly, alcohol and benzo withdrawal can be fatal. If there’s a way you can wean down I’d suggest that or go to a detox center if you have insurance. If you don’t there are state funded detoxes as well but you might need to wait longer for a bed. If you click the sober help button and find treatment you can find detox centers in close proximity to you.
Casey, you should go to a detox center. Doing it at home can cause major problems. Look at the treatment centers on this app.
I'm gonna echo what everyone else is saying, but also I know how that may not be something you are willing to do. That said drink lots of eater and at the first sign of trouble call help
So I’m on doing okay, I know it’s not recommended to do at home but. life constraints made it almost impossible for me to go to a treatment facility but I’m doing it and I feel okay. I called my primary care and she ids aware and if I start having symptoms to let her know ASAP. But here’s to day 3 and feeling great!
I'm glad you are feeling better. Good job on keeping your MD in the loop.
I am glad you are doing well.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks! Been tough, had some cravings last night but it wasn’t too bad to say no
How are you feeking now, Casey?
You still hanging on?
I wonder if the global pandemic makes detox centers even harder to get a bed?
