Non-alcoholic beer

Is O'dule's allowed to drink during recovery?
Its non-alcoholic beer and the label states it has less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.

I’ve been told it’s not a good idea and that it creates too much temptation for the real thing.

It’s between you and your Higher Power. I would recommend discussing with your sponsor to see why you want to go back to old behavior (if you were a drinker). My personal opinion is why would I risk my recovery over it, but I know people who consider themselves in recovery that drink it.

Non alcoholic beer is great for non alcoholics.

That’s a great question! I put this up to the individual. As in chapter 7 big book says we don’t debate over what people do in their recovery. This goes the same with attending gatherings that have alcohol being served and others of the non-alcoholic type drinking. The individual needs to make the decision to attend such functions and continue sobriety. Same with non-alcoholic beers.
Keep the good work! God is love.

Ginger ale is tastier.

Man I love this line.

Would not risk it.it good pull you in.some times it’s not about relapse.it’s about how long your out there.would I make it back before thing’s got to bad or worse.

If it's more than 0.0% alcohol it's not AF/NA. (IMO)

It’s a personal choice. I did not drink NA beer until I was sober for over a year and a place I thought I could handle it. There are way better options out there than odouls, which is great. Some really good craft options, but I only have one once in a blue moon. Sometimes the action and behavior of drinking NA beer even from that bottle or can could trigger the ritual of your past process of drinking. Only you know what you can or cannot handle.

Everyone is different, I waited until I was in my 3rd year of sobriety. I can see where it may be a trigger for some so I think you should ask yourself why do you want it. If it’s to satisfy a craving I would suggest that you definitely avoid it. In my case I enjoy the taste ( not O’Douls) but everyone is different, if you have any concerns at all I would stay away.

I just found a nonalcoholic hard liquor substitute company. I’m thinking about trying it out. I miss some of the flavors.

It has alcohol in it. I wouldn't risk it.

My experience has been that is never about the substance but the intent behind the behavior talkin with my support and my sponsor and applying spiritual principle any and all situations of life will keep me sober sobriety physical mental and spiritual way of life

If you want to drink Odouls , you still want to drink

So true!!!!

Seriously have tried drinking both non-alcoholic beer and wine….both times (separate sober stints) I fell back into drinking again within a week. I caution against it….but, of course, you do you.

No no no I am at the belief that one shouldn’t temp one’s self but with me it would be a trigger my brother has been sober for 28 years and he drinks them but I just quit smoking cigarettes and that was hard after being sober for years

Good afternoon Erica!!!! I don’t know how many days or years do you have in sobriety.Let’s face it sometimes we need the Toughlove to get it. It sounds like to me that you want to drink again. That’s up to you and somebody else edit your higher power. Can you say that O’Doul‘s only has .05% alcohol in it.
Do you consider that is not alcohol?
To me and just for me that’s alcohol. And the taste is just like drinking beer. So why not just drink the real thing. I drank O’Doul‘s two years after I get sober. And somebody had mentioned it to me about the alcohol in it. So you know what I did I started my sobriety date different I considered myself losing those two years. Because I had to have that taste and flavor in my mouth. I’m not saying that you can’t drink it and I’m not giving you permission to either. I have faith if you’re going to make the right decision. If you ain’t get the faith in yourself to make the decision let me tell you I got faith in you.
