No emotion is good or bad. Each one has an important role to play to keep us healthy. The key is to understand what causes them and how to regulate them.

Here's an exercise that might be helpful for you:

Whenever you experience unpleasant emotions, imagine that those emotions are a smoke detector letting you know that there's a fire (hidden belief) somewhere. Your job is to pay attention to your emotions (listen to the smoke detector) so you can discover the beliefs (fire) that are causing your pain and suffering.
