I would not say there are not real addicts here. Your experience with recovery is not the same as that of others on this app.

Something I learned when I gave up alcohol and drugs was that those were just the things I was using to compensate for my actual issues. Getting sober opens your eyes to all the problems you actually have with your character and your person. Some people are wise enough to have recognized they need to make a change before their addictions get out of control. For some, such as myself, it takes years of daily binge drinking to finally say they've had enough. Putting the drink / drugs down is the first step. There's a lot of personal work that comes next.
