Is anyone good with panic attacks. I'm having one after

BREATHE! Slow deep breaths. In three your nose and out through your mouth.

I was told to orient myself. I have to look around amd tell myself I'm home. I'm safe. I have my kitty, Henry, to hold and love. Focus on my five senses. What are five things I can see? What are four things I can touch? What are three things I can smell? What are two things I can taste? What's one thing I can hear?

Another thing that helps me is coloring and painting my feelings. I put on a good movie. I call a friend not caring that it's 3 am.

I'm always here if you need help.

And you may always message me as well.

I see Helen gave the same suggestions I did. They work!

As I said, if you have a :smiley_cat: or :dog2:, hug them to you. My Henry is so helpful. He's my Emotional Support Animal. I love him so!

Tons of great suggestions so far. Look up stimulating your Vagus Nerve, part of your parasympathetic nervous system online. Quick ways include cold water or ice packs on the face, or tongue in cold water to create diver effect.

I know it sounds trivial, but the best way to get out of that stinking thinking is to get out there and help somebody else. Even if it means just given a homeless person a sandwich. You can be damn sure thereā€™s a ton of people out there who have it worse off than you. I know itā€™s hard to realize that when weā€™re in the depths of our own depression. Have you considered medication?

I use to have them a lot and was prescribed meds. Havenā€™t had them in years until 2 weeks ago. Had a lot to do with my insomnia and relapsing. Proper rest and diet did it for me. AA a sponsor, and support group as well. If possible try meditation. But a set schedule for eating rest and exercise will be a great start. And yes sometimes a piece of hard candy or juice helps when youā€™re having one.

How are you doing??
