I hate the disease of addiction. It's an evil sneaky mother-phukker. Just found out a 23 year old member of our fellowship died during a relapse. Pain is inevitable, but suffering alone is not required. If u haven't been to a meeting today, it's been too long. NA always needs to be a place for me where it's ok to NOT be ok. We can always find a meeting. NA dot org has a meeting locator function. Pretty difficult to go to too many meetings. Way too easy to go to too few. NA Basic Text, "Those who keep coming to our meetings regularly, stay clean." Just for today, I will not underestimate the power of addiction, or recovery.
To me the worst part of addiction is it is a disease that is entirely avoidable. Every other disease has a genetic element that we can get it even if we do everything right. So often we see people who have become addicted because of someone else pushing their first time.
