Hi! I’m new here. I’ve been sober for 60 days

Hi! I’m new here. I’ve been sober for 60 days. My whole life has been surrounded by alcohol . I began drinking at a young age. This journey has been challenging because everyone in my life drinks!I am looking to meet some likeminded people to help me navigate this alcohol free journey. Who out there is in the same boat?

Hi Holly,
Congratulations on your 60 days!!!
I'd suggest getting yourself hobbies. Pursue what makes you at peace. Focus on that. This is a good place to meet like minded people, but outside of this app, it will be a challenge. Many people drink alcohol.
The 3 years that I've been alcohol-free, outside of this app, I haven't run into people who don't drink.
It use to bother me, but it no longer does.
I sing, play alto sax, and piano. So that keeps me focused. If I do a gig, chances are alcohol will be served. I made my decision, backed by God. I keep my focus on that.
All the best to you.

Wow! Kudos to you and your sobriety! I have started playing ukulele and recently started lessons. I’m looking forward to being able to really play, and to pick up songs on a whim! Thank you!:heartpulse:

You're welcome.
Just figured out how to respond! Lol

I am sober 60 days as well and my entire network uses drugs and alcohol including my parents. I know I need to expand my network to more non users and cut ties with those that do use. It’s a process!

Congrats on 60 days! I was in the same situation, I had to go find new things to do, because you don’t know how much time you spend drinking/using until you quit, and you suddenly have endless hours of time to fill. I got into health, running, lifting at the gym, went to college, got my degree, met and married my wife, etc. i had a 6.5 year sobriety that was wonderful. I let it slip away for over 6 years, but am back on track and approaching day 50. I’m re-learning how to live sober, and I can tell you that living sober can be exhilarating, amazing, and you can accomplish SO much without booze/drugs weighing you down. Find things to do that you enjoy, and you’ll find like-minded people while you’re doing them. Enjoy the new life you’ve given yourself, and keep up the great work!

Congratulations on 60 days! Welcome to the app :slightly_smiling_face:

Congratulations!:tada: New to the app also - Right there with you (53 days), & have tinkered back and forth with sobriety for two years, which is why I got on this app because I learned in the group of people I am involved with- there is no one to talk to so I relapse after a couple months or so. Needed some support from likeminded ones!

I am constantly surrounded by heavy drinkers, socializing that only revolves around the drink, etc. Nobody wants to go ‘do’ anything that doesn’t involve alcohol. And then they are always repeating themselves or don’t remember your conversations later. Super frustrating.

Just went on a huge camping trip and was the only adult not drinking (as it usually is). Takes time to get used to, but definitely makes me think- I could use a new crew to hang with, but they are mostly family and good friends, so I accept and love them as is. Have found I don’t mind finding my own things to do, but need support in other sober people who understand.
