Good luck! Take it one day at a time
One day at a time. It's tough getting started. 1st year is so, so long because we are dealing with the compulsion to drink or use. It's a new way of life and I can tell you that it gets better. Don't go it alone. Hang out with the winners regardless of their age. Get phone numbers and use them. Picking up the phone seems to be everyone's biggest handicap. Not sure why.
When you feel like crap and want to use, remember that the urge will pass. Play the scene all way through. We use/drink, get buzzed, its over and we start over AGAIN. Endless cycle. I call it believing the lie.
